3 billions barrels of oil have been extracted from the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan since 1993. The general director of the consortium managing the field, Tengizchevroil, (TCO) Ted Etchison told that “this achievement is a good start for preparation to the 25th anniversary of TCO”.
TCO is boosting production as a result of implementation of “the Future Growth and Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP)”, – added Etchison. It will help to increase output by 260,000 barrels per day to 850,000 barrels per day in 2022. Tengiz is the largest oil field in the world. Tengizchevroil is a joint venture in which Kazakhstan holds a 20 percent stake via the KazMunayGas state oil and gas firm, Chevron owns 50 percent, ExxonMobil has 25 percent and LUKOIL the remaining 5 percent.
