LUKOIL Uzbekistan’s project won a prestigious contest of the GLOBAL CIO society of IT managers (http://www.globalcio.ru/). Every year IT managers from different companies choose the most successful and relevant projects in the industry. In total, about 1600 IT managers took part in the online voting, evaluating 155 projects implemented in 2016 in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Within a short term, the IT infrastructure was created and information technology support (ITS) was provided at three gas gathering facilities, two clusters and water intake facilities of the “Early Gas of Kandym” project.

Successful integration

Hyundai Engineering Construction and ENTER Engineering were involved in its implementation as general contractors, and the ITPS group of companies as a system integrator and ITS provider.

An up-to-date, efficient IT infrastructure is an essential condition for the successful implementation of large production projects. It allows synchronizing the work of information computation systems, radio communication systems, telephone, operational production and dispatch communication for the safe and efficient operation of facilities in the fields.

Another and no less important task is the integration of the telecommunication and IT infrastructure of new fields into the unified system of LUKOIL Group.

The project had a number of important regional specific features. Gas production in the Kandym group of fields is conducted in difficult climatic, geographic and seismic conditions.

It was important to ensure the seismic stability of antenna mast structures, to put the UPS power system into a separate subsystem in order to solve the problem of unstable power supply, etc. Equipment and technologies ensuring the stable functioning of the IT infrastructure in severe winter conditions and hot dry summers, as well as during the considerable temperature drops across the day and sand storms were used.

According to Denis Rozhentsev, Deputy General Director for Production - Chief Engineer of LUKOIL Uzbekistan, “the system allows to effectively manage the increased volume of IT infrastructure without increasing the number of personnel at remote sites. As a result of the performed work, IT services at the fields operate smoothly around the clock, providing a connection to the corporate center and users anywhere in the world”.
