Russian oil companies make a big footprint in Iran

In December 2016 a delegation of the representatives of Russia's biggest oil companies and the country's Energy Minister Alexander Novak went to Iran, where they signed deals that will see Russia play a bigger role in the local energy sector.

LUKOIL is set to evaluate the possibility of working at the Mansouri and AbTeymour oil fields, Zarubezhneft at Aban and West Paydar, Tatneft at the Dehloran oil field, and Gazprom Neft at the Changouleh and Cheshmeh-Khosh field, Zanganeh said. Rosneft is pursuing other oilfields, including Yaran, Koupal, Maroun, Bangestan and Azadegan. The two countries also continue to discuss possible crude supply deals.
