First International Half Marathon "Nowruz" took place in Tashkent | 344 (November-December 2018)

On March 24, 2019 during popular Uzbek festival Nowruz similarly-named First International Half Marathon took place in Tashkent.

The event was organized by the Uzbekistan Ministry of physical training and sports, Tashkent Khomiyat, National Olympic Committee, Athletics Federation and Youth Association. LUKOIL Uzbekistan became the title sponsor of Nowruz Half Marathon.

The Half Marathon key objectives were promotion of healthy lifestyle among Tashkent citizens and visitors, development of international cooperation and athletic tourism, identification of top marathon runners in Uzbekistan.

Sport event was open for all people older than 15 (5 km distance) or 18 (half marathon distance) years old. 1 km distance was dedicated for people with special needs.

Totally, 1658 people have been registered for the tournament. They represented 28 countries including Uzbekistan, Austria, Belgium, China, Estonia, France, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov also ran the distance.


Audience could watch the competition live through the monitor. Winners and participants got their wild applause and commemorative medals at the finish. Audience was impressed by the bright concert afterwards.

First International Half Marathon Nowruz became great event for all sports and healthy lifestyle enthusiasts!
