A common goal: LUKOIL and Uzbekneftegaz develop their strategic partnership in preparing students for the oil and gas industry | 343 (September-October 2018)

60 specialists from Uzbekneftegaz, Uzbekistan’s state oil and gas monopoly, participated in internships at factories in the city of Kogalym (LLC LUKOIL-West Siberia) and Perm (LLC LUKOIL-Permnefteorgsintez) between August and October in 2018.

The internships were focused on researching deposits, drilling oil wells, oil and gas development and HSE during all phases of production – from exploration to development.

The basis for LUKOIL’s cooperation in training cadres with Uzbekneftegaz is their agreement from 2016 on Cooperation in Developing Qualified Personnel at Oil and Gas Industry Factories in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The agreement foresees annual internships for Uzbek specialists at LUKOIL’s factories. Eighty-five Uzbekneftegaz specialists have taken part in the program to date.

One of its positive aspects is direct contact between specialists from Russia and Uzbekistan. After the internships are over, they continue communicating, thereby strengthening the partnership between LUKOIL and Uzbekneftegaz.

Ulugbek Khaidarov, Chief HSE Specialist at Shurtansky Gas Chemical Plant (belongs to Uzbekneftegaz):

“I liked how LUKOIL-West Siberia organized its introductory instructions about industrial safety. We were not only told about safety standards, but we watched a movie on the topic. I think we should implement this at our company.”

Rashid Rakhmatov, Head of the HSE Department at Uzbekneftegaz:

"I would like to thank LUKOIL-West Siberia’s management. Our employees had the chance to incorporate all the best practices that you’ve learned over the years. HSE standards are common around the world, but their implementation is different. We got to see an excellent example worthy of being emulated."
