On 9 May 2017, Russians all over the world celebrated the 72th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War (a common name for World War II in Russia). And those of them who live and work in the Middle East were not an exception.

I n Dubai, a gala night and a concert were held with participation of over one thousand guests. Among them were heads and representatives of federal ministries and departments as well as other state, municipal and community bodies of the UAE, heads of foreign diplomatic missions, prominent businessmen, embassy staff of the countries of the CIS and representatives of the media.

A warm reception on the occasion of Victory Day was held in the summer residence of the embassy of the Russian Federation in Zargande (Teheran). It began with a memorial service by the rector of St. Nicholas Cathedral in Tehran (Iran) and Russian Orthodox church in Sharjah (UAE) Archimandrite Alexander (Zarkeshev) on the common grave of soviet soldiers located in the residence. Than representatives of the embassies and military missions from the countries, took part in the World War II, laid wreaths to the stele. The festive event concluded with a outdoor reception on behalf of Russian ambassador in Iran Levan Dzhagaryan and Russian military attache in Iran Alexey Grebnev.
