Spring comes to Tashkent

LAST MONTH LUKOIL UZBEKISTAN HELD ITS ANNUAL CHILDREN’S ART EXHIBIT IN HONOR OF NOWRUZ, THE HOLIDAY OF SPRING.

T his year’s annual Nowruz children’s art exhibit in LUKOIL Uzbekistan’s Tashkent headquarters featured over 100 works, which exceeded last year’s total by nearly one-and-a-half times.

In line with tradition, spring and renewal were the dominant themes of the artwork, which included handmade crafts from cotton, leaves, tree branches and other materials in addition to hand drawings. The main prerequisite for participation was that the children’s work had to be independent and creative. The works were combined into a gallery in the foyer of the building, where participants were treated to gifts and a commemorative photo session.

Spring comes to Tashkent

Nowruz is the name of the Persian New Year, which is celebrated worldwide by the Iranians, along with some other ethno-linguistic groups, as the beginning of the New Year. It has been celebrated for over 3,000 years in Western Asia, Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Black Sea Basin and the Balkans. Nowruz is the day of the vernal equinox, and marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. It usually occurs on 21 March or the previous or following day, depending on where it is observed.
